A note from Mike on the new CD:
This is the new Duo recording with my good friend Matt Andersen.
It was a blast to write and record. Matt and I cleared a couple of days from our touring schedule and got together at my house. After only 2
or 3 days together, all of these songs arrived.

The next step was to enlist Scott Merrit an amazing musician and
engineer. We headed to Scott’s Studio "The Cottage" and after a couple of days of recording the project was done. This is a live "off the floor" recording. No tricks, just the music, as it happened, during those 2 days at Scott's place.

The next call was to my good friend and Magnum Photojournalist
Larry Towell. Having Larry take your CD photos is kinda like having Van Gogh paint your bathroom but he agree and that’s how the cover for Piggyback happened. Piggyback is released on Busted Flat Records.

Mike continues to play many styles of music incorporating all of his influences and experience. These may be solo shows involving cutting edge looping with mouth percussion creating otherworldly sound paintings. Some of the highlights have been Avante Garde multimedia performances with world famous Magnum photographer Larry Towell and Duo performance’s with Legendary Bluegrass musician Raymond McLain and Acoustic Blues shows with rising star Matt Andersen. Mike Stevens's music is always evolving and reflects all of his influences. It’s always pushing the envelope while respecting the past.
